This option seems (taking a look at the code) to remove bare CRs (^M, char 13,
0x0D) from strings, but all the trouble I've seen in (my) system.log so far
were caused by bare LFs (^J, char 10, 0x0A) in "Subject:" headers, not bare
CRs.

So this option doesn't help in this case.
